Vishal rana is a PhD student based at the University of southern Queensland in the National Centre for Engineering in Agriculture. Vishal rana has completed his Master in Engineering Technology major in Agricultural Engineering at University of Southern Queensland. His master’s dissertation title was “Investigating the advance rate variability and its impact on the performance of Smart Irrigation System for Furrow irrigation.

Abstract Outline: This presentation will be divided in 4 parts as (1) first part will describe the current status of irrigation systems and irrigation scheduling techniques used by Australian farmers in cotton and sugarcane industry. (2) Second part of the presentation will provide justification of selected technique (canopy temperature) as indicators to schedule irrigation and justification of using selected sensors, equipment and methods. (3) Third part will describe the work done under this project to the date in regards to methodology, results and discussion. (4) Finally, presentation will explain future milestones of this project.
