Kevin Hopkins – Originally from USA, I moved to Australia in 1999, making South Australia my new home. In 2009, I ventured into the solar pumping industry, an exciting and logical step building on my experience gained from many years spent in the commercial solar industry. I co-founded Reaqua Solar Pumping, a company that focuses on providing custom solar pumping solutions for irrigation and livestock producers. Reaqua is the exclusive distributor of Lorentz Solar Pumps for Australia and New Zealand. As well as being a Director I am also the GM Pastoral, focused on serving our Pastoral livestock clients across Australia and I also head up our internal R&D team developing technologies that will complement solar pumping such as remote monitoring systems.

Where: International Convention Centre, Sydney – Room E5.7

When: Day 3 – Friday, 15 June 2018, 9.30 – 10.00

Abstract Outline: Farmers in Australia and around the world rely on diesel engine or power grid to power pumps to meet their water requirement. However, these two modes of operations present a set of disadvantages for the farmer such as rising electricity and fuel prices and maintenance. Solar pumping & irrigation has been talked about for a long time as the saviour of farmers in terms of reducing energy prices, however commercial uptake has been slow to date. This presentation will deliver real world examples of Australian farmers that have converted to solar pumping/irrigation and the financial benefits they are now seeing. The intent being that the audience can see multiple success stories around solar pumping/irrigation to encourage them to take up the technology themselves.
