CEO, Land F/X
Land F/X CEO and developer Jeremiah Farmer started the company with his landscape architect father, David, back in the 1990s. David had found that although AutoCAD was becoming the industry standard, it wasn’t well adapted to his field. Jeremiah had been writing code and helping with irrigation drawings since childhood. His inborn love of trigonometry made him a natural to help customize AutoCAD to his father’s needs. What started as one rudimentary menu evolved into an advanced design program tailored to irrigation design. The company officially launched in 2004. Since then, company’s software has grown into a trusted tool for more than 2,000 irrigation designers worldwide. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Jeremiah lives in his hometown of San Luis Obispo, California.

Abstract Outline: Advances in irrigation design software offer formidable advancements over traditional practices.
The differences are so stark that the usage of such software is fast becoming a necessity because:
· Software gives designers free reign to use any product by any manufacturer, with no downtime in preparing symbols, descriptions, or performance data.
· Hydraulic calculations performed by a computer obviously increase precision but also allow designers to account for rapid “what-if” scenarios and adjust to changing requirements.
Achieving instantaneous and precise results via software ensures maximum accuracy in the design, including correct specifications of pumping needs and water usage.
A project completed without design software will always cut corners. Flow rates will be averaged and distances approximated. The result will always be a system that is either:
· Inadvertently under-designed (and will use more water than is necessary)
