Dr David Mitchell is trained in soil science and surface hydrology and has over 25 years of soil and agricultural water research. He has led several large multidisciplinary research projects, specifically the Key Sites project understanding the various ways dryland salinity is expressed and the subsequent on farm management actions that can be taken to mitigate or reverse the effects of dryland salinity.

David Cordina has over 15 years’ experience in the water and natural resource management sector. David is jointly responsible for providing advice to State and Commonwealth agencies on water policy, legislation and other programs on agricultural profitability and sustainability

Abstract Outline: The presentation will provide an overview of a study that identified within the Australian cotton industry innovative approaches to water security. The study undertook a number of semi structured interviews as well as a literature review to identify the range and breadth of innovation that exist within the Australian cotton industry with relation to improving water security. As part of the presentation a number of case studies of innovative approaches to water security will be presented
